One of Ilkleys largest employers, Virtual College based in Marsel House is celebrating 15 years in business this year.
Founded in 1995, Virtual College has developed into one of the UK’s leading providers of total solutions with the e-learning area. Their key objective has been to help enhance the traditional learning solution through the careful intergration of technology. This solution embraces all aspects of the learning experience and, unlike many other e-learning providers, extends to actual programme/qualification delivery – resulting in a unique blended delivery solution. The knowledge experience that this delivery provides helps ensure that Virtual College continually strives to improve the solution.
Now employing a team of over sixty people as its base at Marsel House, Stephenson’s Way in Ilkley, Virtual College has over 350,000 online learners worldwide and a wide range of over 100 online courses to choose from, including Food Hygiene, Fire Safety and the latest edition of their portfolio, the City and Guilds 2382-10 17th Edition (BS7671:2008), developed in partnership with the NICEIC. And as part of its fifteen year celebrations, Virtual College are delighted to be the proud sponsors of this year’s Christmas Holly Ball, a high-profile charity event in Ilkley’s social calendar.
This annual Holly Ball, now in the 24th year, will take place on Saturday 18 December 2010 – the last Saturday before Christmas – at the Kings Hall / Winter Gardens in Ilkley. The evening will comprise a drinks reception, with three course dinner plus a coffee, a raffle and dancing into the early hours to live music from locally renowned band, Soul Rights and a disco. All proceeds will benefit Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Lesley Ord, Operations Director for Virtual College saids ‘We deliver online training worldwide but we see sponsoring this local events in our 15th anniversary year as a way of raising our profile within the local community’.
Organiser Fiona Mann spoke of her excitement at this year’s event “I am thrilled that Virtual College has agreed to support this worthwhile cause as part of their 15 year celebrations and am looking forward to a successful and memorable evening, which will really get people in the Christmas mood.”
