Police are appealing for information following a serious collision on the B1257 (Malton to Helmsley stretch) between Oswaldkirk and Sproxton on Wednesday September 1st.
The collision occurred at 7:30am, approximately half a mile north of the Oswaldkirk junction and involved a pedal cyclist and a blue Volkswagen van.
Both the van and the cyclist were travelling in the direction of Helmsley prior to the collision.
The cyclist, a 49-year-old man from Ampleforth, was taken to York District Hospital with serious head, chest and pelvic injuries. The driver of the van was uninjured.
The cyclist was riding a silver cylce and was wearing black trousers and a blue top and carried a grey rucksack.
Police are appealing for anyone travelling along the B1257 at around 7:20 – 7:35 on the morning who saw the van or cyclist prior to the collision, or who witnessed the crash to contact them.
