Police renew appeal for witnesses following fatal collision.

Police are renewing their appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision in York.

The collision occurred on Monday 30 August shortly after 9.15pm on the A1237 and involved a red Kawasaki ZX900 sports bike and a blue Audi A3.

Officers would like to speak with anyone who saw the motorbike prior to the collision, between 7pm and 9.15pm on Monday 30 August. Police are also trying to trace the movements of the sports bike, which had the registration number T42 KNW, between the time of the collision and Tuesday 24 August, when it was stolen from an address in Rawcliffe in the city.

Traffic Sergeant Dave Willey, who is leading the investigation into the collision, said: “Just prior to the collision there were at least two other cars and a motorcycle on the A1237. Following the collision, a silver Vauxhall Corsa containing a number of young women stopped at the scene. However, they left the area before officers had a chance to take their details.

“We need to speak with the occupants of the cars and motorcyclist. I would ask them to contact North Yorkshire Police as soon as possible.”

The man who died as a result of the collision was Thomas Lee Hodgson, who was aged 26 and came from the Clifton area of York. The inquest was opened and adjourned today (Thursday 2 September0 in York.
