We are now in a position to identify the boy who died following the incident in the swimming pool at Hambleton Leisure Centre in Northallerton on Wednesday afternoon (25 August 2010).
He was Kaimen Ward, aged eight, of Ashlands Road, Northallerton.
The inquest is not expected to open and adjourn until Monday. We will keep you updated.
Police inquiries into the death remain ongoing. The Health and Safety Executive have also been notified.

Family statement
Kaimen’s family have issued the following statement:
“We are struggling to come to terms with what has happened to Kaimen, it has left us completely devastated.
“He is such a lovely young boy, the best son and brother anyone could wish for.
“We would like to thank everybody for all the love and support we have received.”
