| The Highways Agency will begin carriageway improvement works on the westbound A64 at Whitwell on the Hill on Monday 2 August. |
| The work will include resurfacing the carriageway, laying high friction surfacing to improve safety and renewing road markings between Welburn Crossroads and Cliff Lane. The work will be completed on Tuesday 10 August.In order to minimise the disruption to drivers, work will take place overnight from 9pm until 6am, Monday to Thursday evenings. No work will take place at weekends.During the work there will be lane closures and convoy working in operation controlled by traffic lights. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place for the lane closures, during the convoy working a 10mph speed restriction will be in place for safety reasons and traffic will be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle. There will also be restricted access to the A64 via Onham’s lane.Highways Agency project manager, Andrew Brown, said: “This work will improve road safety along this stretch of the A64. In order to minimise disruption to road-users the work will be carried out overnight on week-nights only, when traffic flows are lower. We ask that drivers take extra care when travelling through the roadworks.” |
