Police hunt horse attacker

Police in Northallerton are hunting whoever is responsible for deliberately wounding a horse on Tannery Lane in the town.

The incident happened sometime between the evening of Thursday 8 and the afternoon of Friday 9 July 2010, when a horse, which is stabled in a field at the bottom of Tannery Lane, was attacked with an unknown weapon which left a deep cut approximately 5” in length in the animal’s left hind leg. The wound had to be treated and stitched by a vet.

PC Alex Forsdyke, of Northallerton’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was an utterly pointless and vicious attack which left a defenceless animal in pain and requiring treatment. I would urge anyone who knows anything about this crime to contact me at Northallerton police station.”
