Adam Chadwick Murder: Two Year Anniversary- New CCTV released

Police hunting the killers of Adam Chadwick, 20, have today (24/6) released previously unseen CCTV footage on the second anniversary of Adam’s fatal shooting in Leeds.

The footage, which shows a group of young people stood outside the BP garage on Roundhay Road in Leeds, has been released in a bid to trace a number of potential witnesses who may have seen the occupant/s of a car thought to have been used by Adam’s killers.

Despite extensive police enquiries and appeals, including a reconstruction on BBC’s Crimewatch, detectives have been unable to trace the occupants of a blue Ford Focus C- Max vehicle (reg: YH54 SBV) which they believe was used and then abandoned by those involved in Adam’s murder.

In the CCTV footage a number of young people are seen stood just outside the BP garage on June 20, 2008 as the Ford Focus C- Max enters the garage around 11.30pm and fills the rear offside tyre with air before leaving and driving north towards Roundhay.

The group of young people, some of which were stood directly outside the petrol station as the Ford Focus C- Max exited, were also seen to speak to a number of other young people who had gathered in garage’s car cleaning bay and are now being asked to come forward by police

Detective Superintendent Steve Payne, of West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “Two years have now passed since Adam’s tragic death and I as well as the rest of the enquiry team remain as determined as ever to catch those responsible.

“In the past we have made a number of appeals regarding the Ford Focus C- Max, which we believe was used by the Adam’s killers, but we have yet to receive that vital piece of information that unlocks this case.

“I would ask anyone who recognises themselves in the footage to come forward and speak to us. This enquiry remains very much active and it’s possible those stood around the BP garage that night may have seen the occupant/s of the car.

“If you were one of the group at the garage please contact us. Your information, irrespective of how small and insignificant you feel it may be, could be crucial.

“Adam’s death left a family devastated and a city shocked and I remain convinced the communities of Leeds hold the key to this investigation.

“With the length of time that has passed since Adam’s shooting someone may now feel in a position to come forward and speak to us. I would ask that person to think about Adam’s family and get in touch. All I’m interested in is bringing Adam’s killers to justice and I guarantee anyone contacting myself or the enquiry team complete anonymity and protection.”

Police are also asking anyone with information over the movements of the Ford Focus C- Max in the two weeks after it was stolen in the Little London area of Leeds on June 11 and recovered at the junction of Chapeltown Road and Reginald Street in Leeds on the 25 June to get in touch.

In the five days between the car being seen at the BP garage and when it was recovered the spare ’spacesaver’ tyre had been put on the rear wheel and detectives continue to want to hear from anyone who may have seen the tyre being changed.

Adam was shot at his sister’s home in Clifton Mount, Harehills on Tuesday 24 June, 2008. He died two days later in hospital.

Adam was visiting his sister when, at 10.40pm on the 24 June, a woman and three black men wearing masks and camouflage clothing came to the door of the house. A disturbance followed during which Adam was shot.

The woman who called at Adam’s sister’s house is known to have been knocking at other doors in the area prior to the shooting, asking for someone called ‘Michelle’.

The woman was described as white, 27 to 28 years old, 5ft 4 inches to 5ft 5 inches tall with dark brown hair, olive skin and dark eyes. She was wearing a baggy black fleece or cardigan over a round neck black top. An e-fit of the woman has been released but police have so far being unable to trace her.
