Gary Mawson of Bradford was today sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to 4 years behind bars after pleading guilty to committing sexual offences in the Burley-in-Wharfedale area. Mawson was charge on a number of accounts occurring between November 2009 and February 2010, these being assault, sexual assault and the possession of cannabis when being picked up by the police. He was eventually arrested following a joint investigation headed by the British Transport Police and the Airedale and North Bradford CID. Detective Chief Inspector Mabs Hussain had this to say, “He clearly posed a danger to women through committing a series of escalating offences which caused alarm in the community and significant distress to his victims. It was due to the joint work between the community and the police that he was captured and brought to justice when he was”.
