Two Arrests Made After Bank Cards Recovered.

Two men aged 26 and 19 years old were arrested in the early hours of this morning after they were detained in a nightclub in Leeds by doormen. The pair were seen acting suspiciously on the dance floor, moving very close to groups of people they obviously had no connection with.
Plain clothed police officers visited the club and the pair were searched, and found to be in possession of several bank cards and college ID cards bearing different names. They were then arrested on suspicion of theft from a person, and both homes of the men were searched, further bank cards were found along with mobile phones, a quantity of cash and a large block of what is believed to be a precious metal.
Chief Inspector Vernon Francis, who is responsible for policing in Leeds city centre, said: “Neighbourhood Policing Team officers had been made aware of a recent rise in the number of thefts from people in the city and we’ve been running a number of high-visibility and plain clothes operations with the support of local businesses including the pubs and clubs to tackle this.

“Arrests like these are a great example of officers and local businesses working well together to stamp out crime, but people out and about in Leeds can also guard against becoming a victim of theft by only taking out the items you need, keeping bags and pockets fastened, and by watching out for anyone you think may have an eye on your property.”
